Our client is seeking a consultant to redesign its IT services cost allocation model ahead of a major ERP implementation.
The consultant will assess the current cost allocation methodology, develop a more accurate service costing model, and help the client better understand profitability by service line and customer.
The client currently relies on spreadsheet-based cost allocations and is looking to establish a robust, scalable methodology that accurately allocates shared costs across its IT services business. This project will provide the financial foundation for redesigning the chart of accounts and supporting a new ERP implementation.
Responsibilities
• Assess the client's current IT services cost allocation methodology.
• Design and implement an improved cost allocation framework for shared costs, including labor, facilities, network, hosting, and other overhead expenses.
• Develop an accurate service costing model to measure profitability by service line and customer.
• Recommend best practices for service costing, pricing, and profitability analysis.
• Provide recommendations that support future chart of accounts redesign and ERP implementation.
• Collaborate with finance and business stakeholders to validate the new allocation methodology.
Qualifications
• Deep experience designing cost allocation models for IT services businesses.
• Experience working within the Finance or Cost Accounting department of a mid-sized or large IT services company.
• Strong expertise in service costing, pricing, and profitability analysis.
• Experience supporting managed IT services, data center services, cloud services, or similar technology businesses.
• Previous consulting experience combined with relevant IT services finance experience, is highly desirable.

Time commitment: 2-3 days per week
Location: Primarily remote, with 1-2 trips to Toronto for workshops
Expected rate: $100 - $150 per hour
